Fresh Cut: Montecristo Epic Craft Cured

Altadis USA has shaken things up in the past few years. A new CEO and marketing team along with renowned blender Rafael Nodal have come together to bring this company into a new era. While their main factory remains Tabacalera de Garcia, Altadis has also branched out to work with other manufacturers to create new and exciting blends. This includes a string of releases with AJ Fernandez and a new store only cigar with The Crowned Heads

For their newest blend, Altadis USA turned to an old friend, the Plasencia family. The same team responsible for the Montecristo Espada, a top 25 cigar of the year, worked tirelessly to create the brand new Montecristo Epic Craft Cured. It is a Nicaraguan puro that is hand rolled in the legendary Plasencia factory in Esteli. Its tobaccos were aged in small pilones as opposed to the usual larger ones "allowing the flavors of the cigar's wrapper, binder, and filler tobaccos to marry into a more harmonious profile" according to a press release.

It is crafted with a 2006 Nicaraguan Rosado oscuro wrapper, followed by aged filler tobaccos from the three main growing regions of Nicaragua. Even the binder is unique, using a special aged leaf from the island of Ometepe. These tobaccos combined for a smooth and peppery smoke with notes of nuts, pepper, and a vanilla sweetness.

This cigar was given a 91 rating by Half Wheel, giving it one of the highest ratings of any Montecristo. It is available in stunning wood boxes of 10 and in 3 different sizes. The team at Cigars.com is so excited to be selling the Epic Craft Cured and recommend it highly.
