Fresh Cut: Romeo San Andres

Rafael Nodal has really been making waves with Altadis USA. His work on their new blends and his collaborations with companies such as Plasencia and AJ Fernandez has made the world’s largest cigar manufacturer open up to a whole new generation of cigar enthusiasts. The Trinidad Santiago brought back a brand that was considered all but dead and his work on the Montecristo Epic Craft Cured resulted in one of the highest rated Altadis products in history. Rafael is now turning his attention to the storied Romeo brand.

The brand new Romeo San Andres is as bold as it is beautiful. It features an array of aged Dominican and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos, giving it a complex aroma of nuts, spice, pepper and a little cream. It is then cloaked in a jet black, Mexican San Andres wrapper. IT is oily, smooth and flawless. This rich maduro wrapper offers up flavors of dark chocolate, peanuts, espresso, leather, with a subtle sweet spice to it towards the end.

Being an Altadis USA product, the quality is there. It has an epic burn, great smoke output, and an easy, open draw. Combine that with an intense, complex profile, and you are looking at the future of the Romeo brand.
