Last Call For Summer Cigar Pairings

While the days are still getting hotter, we are getting close to the end of Summer. People are already getting geared up for their pumpkin lattes and Ugg boots. However, we still have a few glorious weeks left of hot weather and sunshine and as cigar smoker we need to take advantage of every minute. Let's look at some top notch pairings to finish out the last days of summer.

Tallulah & Avo Classic

The Tallulah is a Southern-inspired variant of the classic Jack and Coke. It is a blend of Jack Daniels, Coca-Cola, and peanut orgeat, which is a sweet syrup. This gives you the refreshing and strong taste of the Jack and Coke with the sweet and flavorful notes of peanuts. The Avo Classic is an incredibly smooth and flavorful Dominican smoke with notes of leather, cream, and nuts making it a great partner for the Tallulah.

Peach Tequila Melba & Tatiana Harvest Moon

This after-dinner drink was actually inspired by a famed French dessert. The Peach Melba, vanilla ice cream topped with peaches and raspberry sauce, serves as the foundation of the refreshing and sweet drink. You mash up peach slices, then mix it with Chambord, a raspberry cordial, cream, and a sweetened tequila. Shake it with ice and there you go. The Tatiana Harvest Moon is an infused cigar that has notes of spice, cinnamon, and brown sugar, giving you a sweet smoke and a refreshing dessert drink, perfect for a hot August evening.

Caipirinha & Cao Amazon Basin

This is the perfect pairing for anyone who enjoys Brazilian food, culture, or tobacco. First, we have the Caipirinha, the signature drink of Brazil. The main ingredient is known as Cachaca, a Brazilian liquor distilled from sugar cane. You then add sugar and a touch of lime for a sweet yet strong and refreshing drink. The CAO Amazon Basin was a game-changing cigar and one of the most popular the year it came out. It uses Brazilian tobaccos fermented deep in the Amazon rainforest, giving it a rich and earthy taste along with a slight citrus note. If you love Pelé, you'll love this pairing.

Coconut Mojito & Nat Sherman Epoca Reserva

Here we have a new take on a classic cocktail and a new take on a classic cigar. Let's take a look at the beverage first. The Coconut Mojito uses white rum, coconut rum, cream of coconut, and chilled club soda to give you a more refreshing and tropical version of that age-old summer favorite. This year, Nat Sherman announced they were taking their high-end Nat Sherman line and rebranding it as the Nat Sherman Epoca Reserva. This Dominican gem is flavorful and exceptionally smooth. Well, call this the reboot pairing.

Jalapeno Tequila Smash & Las Calaveras 2019

For our last pairing, we are going to kick things up a notch. First up is the intricate and spicy Jalapeno Tequila Smash. This mixes muddle lime slices, orange slices, and a slice of jalapeno peppers with simple syrup, tequila, and Sprite for a spicy, yet refreshing citrus-style beverage. The new Las Calaveras from Crowned Heads is an absolute hitter and might be the best since the original. This spicy and complex smoke goes hand-in-hand with the Smash, but this is not a pairing for the faint of heart.
