Kristoff Connecticut Cigar Review

The Kristoff Connecticut is an impressive smoke that was introduced way back in 2016. Fitting with the rest of the Kristoff brand, this cigar is a great addition to its ever-growing portfolio. In this Kristoff cigars review, we will take a look back at one of Kristoff’s classics, as well as the brand itself.

What you need to know about Kristoff Cigars

As you may be aware, Kristoff Cigars is a major player in the boutique cigar industry. The brand began life in 2004 when owner, Glen Case, moved out of the finance industry to enjoy professional life with one of his first loves — cigars.

A cigar smoker since his teens, Case had a very precise idea of what he wanted from his company, and as a result, Kristoff is the renowned boutique brand we know and love today.

With much enthusiasm and dedication, Kristoff is committed to creating contemporary new blends with triple fermented premium tobaccos; the perfect enhancement to any smoke.

What other cigars is Kristoff famous for?

Kristoff is famous for a huge selection of cigars that when released, have a tendency to take the market by storm. One cigar that particularly impressed aficionados was the Kristoff Sumatra. This medium-bodied premium cigar boasts a smooth blend with flavors of cinnamon, roasted nuts, and floral notes.

Many cigar smokers will be familiar with the Kristoff Cameroon. This cigar is aged for seven years, and that is certainly noted through its incredible flavors. Not only is this smoke well-balanced, but it is also an ideal treat for the palate.

What is the Kristoff Connecticut?

The Kristoff Connecticut is an extremely popular stogie and this cigar has been described as “redefining the meaning of full-flavored.”

As you can tell from the name of this cigar, it boasts an Ecuadorian-grown Connecticut Shade wrapper.

How did Kristoff treat the blend of the smoke?

The Kristoff Connecticut cigar uses a Nicaraguan binder and a filler which includes various blends of Dominican Habano.

What flavors do you experience with the Kristoff Connecticut?

The quad filler blend immediately makes this cigar unique, and there is inevitably a plethora of intense flavors to follow.

Here are some of the flavors I experienced while enjoying this very special cigar.

First third

At the beginning of this smoke, there were immediate notes of wood and cedar. Alongside this, there was a pleasant combination of sweetness with some slight spice. Throughout the first third, I enjoyed some delicate creamy undertones, which kept the smoke well-balanced.

Second third

Moving on to the second third, the cedar notes were still the primary flavor. However, occasionally the creamy undertones would take charge.

There was an addition of intense sweetness during the second third, which could be compared to a slight caramel taste.

Final third

In the final third, all the flavors mixed together to create a completely new experience. Alongside notes of cedar and cream, the sweetness remained with a delightful addition of almonds.

What is the draw of the Kristoff Connecticut like?

As expected from such a high-profile brand, the smoke kept a straight burn path throughout the smoke. The draw of the cigar was perfect; every puff was not too tight or loose.

What is the strength profile of the smoke?

The Kristoff Connecticut is a light to medium-bodied cigar. The strength and body of this stogie create a perfectly balanced smoke, which avoids any overpowering surprises.

Our summary

The Kristoff Connecticut is perfect for those searching for a low maintenance smoking experience that provides a smooth and natural mingling of flavors.

Although the cigar is not overly complex, it achieves an impressive balance of flavors and is a great addition to any humidor. I thoroughly recommend it!
