The Story Behind El Mago Cigars Nicholas Fusco built a massively successful cigar company with no experience. With virtually no manufacturing, distribution, or business experience, he overcame all obstacles and saw his brand’s meteoric rise. The name “El Mago” is Spanish for “The Wizard,” but it’s also a portmanteau of the names Mario and Gonzalo. These were Nicholas Fusco’s grandparents, Gonzalo and Maria Torre, who tragically passed away in the 2021 Surfside condominium collapse in Florida.
