Alec Bradley Experimental Double Broadleaf
Robusto / 5 x 50

The process of making a handmade premium cigar takes a ton of experimentation, and with the Alec Bradley Experimental Double Broadleaf, the results are looking good! The Double Broadleaf is the third entry in Alec Bradley’s Experimental Series joining a couple of my favorite daily smokes, the Project 40 and Project 40 Maduro. The Double Broadleaf, however, takes ‘experimental’ to an all-new level.
Most of the broadleaf tobaccos used for cigar blending come from Pennsylvania, and to a greater extent the Connecticut River Valley. Connecticut has also been home to some recent tobacco experiments, with Connecticut-grown Habano and Corojo tobaccos becoming increasingly popular. In a similar vein, the Double Broadleaf instead takes Connecticut Broadleaf seeds and grows them in various countries.
The main feature on the Alec Bradley Experimental Double Broadleaf is a top-shelf Honduran Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, with another Honduran-grown Connecticut Broadleaf serving as one of the binders. The ‘double’ part of Double Broadleaf comes from the addition of a second Nicaraguan Broadleaf binder. Underneath all the broadleaf is a blend of perfectly aged Nicaraguan and Honduran long fillers.
I love the richness of broadleaf, and that is exactly what Double Broadleaf provides with a bold and complex medium-full bodied tapestry of dark chocolate, nuts, baking spices, earth, tobacco sweetness, espresso, and tons of pepper. These impressive flavors are all delivered with a slow, even burn, a tell-tale sign of top-notch construction.
Available in three popular sizes and already garnering top-rated reviews, these gems are a worthy addition to the humidor of any seasoned aficionado. When I was shopping around to get some Alec Bradley Experimental Double Broadleaf cigars, I ordered a box of 24 online from Cigars.com to get them shipped fast right to my door!
