In the 1990s, the market was flooded with mellow cigars with no real full-bodied options available. The Fuente family changed that with the Opus X. This cigar became the holy grail yet wasn’t widely available. The world was still clamoring for a top-of-the-line full-flavored smoke. The Fuentes again answered the call, this time for the Ashton company. They debuted the Ashton Virgin Sun Grown, and the world was never the same. It was smooth yet strong and incredibly flavorful. It is rolled with aged Dominican long-filler tobacco. It is wrapped in a dark-brown Ecuadorian wrapper. It is spicy, rich, and delicious with a damn near perfect burn. This highly rated smoke is the epitome of a full-bodied cigar.

For those of you who know me, you probably wish you don’t. However, you may know that I’m usually not a huge fan of box pressed, which is why the Eclipse is my go to cigar for the VSG. It is the only rounded Parejo offered in the line, yet maintains the best qualities of every size. It has a flawless burn and a great amount of smoke. It has a subtle hint of nuts form tis Dominican filler and binder and a blast of pepper and spice from its sultry Ecuadorian Sun grown wrapper. For me, this cigar was love at first sight.
