The Man Who Makes My Father Cigars
Before they became one of the most talked about names in premium cigars, Jose “Don Pepin” Garcia was earning a reputation in Miami for his Cuban-style blending. Originally from Cuba, Pepin spent decades in the Cuban cigar industry before relocating to the United States. When he left the island, he brought something more valuable than recipes or techniques. He brought a deep passion and understanding of how to make incredibly memorable cigars.
He didn’t immediately start My Fathers Cigars. He worked with other brands first, including a collaboration with Pete Johnson that produced the Tatuaje line. His early success quickly established him as a serious force in the industry. That momentum carried into the launch of his company. The name was Jamie’s tribute to his father, but the success of the brand became a joint achievement.
The family opened their first Nicaraguan factory, My Father Cigars S.A., in Esteli, giving them full control of the growing, fermenting, rolling, and aging process. When Garcia finally launched My Father Cigars with his son Jamie, the world got to see what happens when you give a master cigar maker complete creative control.
Top-Rated My Father Cigar Lines and Awards

Beyond those, the My Father portfolio includes the original My Father line, the earthy La Antiguedad, the popular The Judge, El Centurion, the Cuban-style favorite Fonseca by My Father, and more. If you’re building your collection for your humidor, these cigars offer enough variety to satisfy both seasoned and new smokers with plethora of approachable to intense options.
My Father Cigars Wrapper, Binder, and Filler Guide
My Father Cigars grows most of their tobaccos on their family-run estate in Esteli, Nicaragua. They control the entire cigar-making development, including the growing, fermenting, rolling, and aging process. This gives them the ability to make cigars with incredible consistency, so you know you’re always getting a quality cigar. Every cigar that comes out of their factory receives individual attention from experienced torcedores.
Most of the blends in the My Father Cigars catalog feature Nicaraguan filler and binder, often grown using Cuban-seed Criollo and Corojo varietals. Wrapper choices vary across each cigar with some featuring Ecuadorian Habano, Connecticut, and more.
How To Pair My Father Cigars with Whiskey, Coffee, and More
Because of the range in strength and profile, My Father Cigars pairs well with both simple and complex drinks. A Flor de Las Antillas Robusto works well with coffee or even a wheated bourbon, while something fuller-bodied like The Judge stands up to rye, peated scotch, or dark rum.
